LAS CRUCES, N.M - The Western New Mexico University Men's Tennis team took a short trip to the New Mexico State Tennis Center to host the #33 ranked Chaps of Lubbock Christian. The Mustangs would go down 0-7.
In doubles, No. 1 duo of
Brendan Lock (Cheyenne, Wyoming/Cheyenne South HS) and
Alexandre Frigout (/Ozanam/ St Jean) were bested by Tristian Vigneron and Martins Abamu, 4-6. At the No. 2 spot,
Lorenzo Orellano Buratti (Acassuso, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Anibal Mensi) and
Javier Romero (Tlalnepantla, Mexico/ETAC) lost a ferocious battle 4-6 to Pablo Segura and Herman Aguiree. No. 3 pairing of
Romain Malhomme (/CNED) and
Mohjit Grewal (Witten, Germany) would lose their battle as well, 4-6 to Mattia Ghedin and Braden Tipton.
As for singles, No. 1 Romero fell to Vigneron in a battle of the ages, 7(7)-6(3), 5-7, 4-10. At No.2 Malhomme lost his match 6(5)-7(7), 2-6 to Abamu. Penciled in a No. 3 today was Frigout, going down 4-6, 4-6 to Aguiree.
Lock played No. 4 for the Mustangs today, falling 2-6, 0-6 Ghedin. Slotted in at No. 5 was Orellano, as he lost to the racket of Blas Ruiz Romero 0-6, 3-6. It would take the Chaps' Segura all three sets to defeat No. 6 Grewal 2-6, 6-1, 7-10.

Doubles: 1, 2, 3
Singles: 5, 4, 3, 1, 6, 2
The Mustangs will play their final match of the season on April 19th in Silver City against the St. Mary's Rattlers.
