SILVER CITY, N.M. - The Western New Mexico University Men's Tennis team host the 30th ranked Midwestern State Mustangs on Friday afternoon. The Mustangs fell 0-7.
In doubles, No. 1 duo of
Alexandre Frigout (/Ozanam/ St Jean) and
Brendan Lock (Cheyenne, Wyoming/Cheyenne South HS) dropped their match 1-6 to Luis Diaz and Stephen Slocombe. At No. 2 today was
Javier Romero (Tlalnepantla, Mexico/ETAC) and
Lorenzo Orellano Buratti (Acassuso, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Anibal Mensi), going down to Germano Setti and Killian Guillo, 2-6. The No. 3 pairing of
Mohjit Grewal (Witten, Germany) and
Romain Malhomme (/CNED) were defeated 4-6 by Justin Van Amerogen and Bruno Sanchez.
As for singles, No.1 Romero lost a heartbreaker to Diaz 6(5)-7(7), 2-6. At the No. 2 spot, Malhomme was bested by Setti 3-6, 2-6. Slotted in at No. 3 today, Frigout was bested 5-7, 4-6.
No. 4 Lock earned the only set win for the Mustangs today before falling to the racket of Guillou 3-6, 6-3, 3-6. Penciled in at No.5 Orellano went down 4-6, 2-6 to Philip Kamara. Grewal played No. 6 for the Mustangs today, as he was befuddled by Jaun David Duque 1-6, 4-6.
The Mustangs will be in action tomorrow against Lubbock Christian at New Mexico State Tennis Center (10:00 AM MT).
