IRVINE, Calif. - The Western New Mexico University Women's Tennis team ended their spring break trip to California with a match up against the Golden Eagles of Concordia Irvine. The Mustangs lost this battle 0-7.
In doubles, No. 1 pairing of
Livia Leite (Cunha-SP, Brazil/Bernardino Querido,) and
Ana Sofia Montero Villegas (Caracas, Venezuela) fell 1-6 to the Golden Eagles' Sophie Rachor and Tiffany Carrillo. At the No. 2 spot,
Mann-Ning Li (Converse, TX/John H. Guyer HS) and
Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh HS) batted hard, but would go down to Emillie Lugon-Moulin and Bryn Johnson 1-6. The Mustang doubles at No. 3, containing
Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) and
Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) would go unfinished.
As for singles, No. 1 Leite was defeated by the Golden Eagles' Rachor 1-6, 2-6. No. 3 Arnautu was the next Mustang up, as she lost her match to Carrillo 2-6, 0-6.Â
Penciled in a No. 2 today was Li, matched up against Lugon-Moulin. Li went down 0-6, 1-6. Playing No. 4 today was Montero, losing to racket of Jessica Bear, 2-6, 3-6. Blumberg was the final Mustang today at No. 5, dropping her match to Alicia Da Re 1-6, 1-6.

Singles: 1, 3, 2, 4, 5
The Mustangs will be back in action on Friday March 22nd for their home opener against UT Tyler.
