Box Score AZUSA, Calif. - The Western New Mexico Women's Tennis team traveled to California for a three game spring break road trip. The Mustangs fell in their first match, 7-0 to Azusa Pacific.
In doubles, No. 1 pairing of
Livia Leite (Cunha-SP, Brazil/Bernardino Querido,) and
Ana Sofia Montero Villegas (Caracas, Venezuela) fell in their match, 0-6 to Julia Jordan and Vini Bautista. No. 2 duo of
Mann-Ning Li (Converse, TX/John H. Guyer HS) and
Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh HS) lost their battle to Shannele Lopez and Katherine Nguyen 0-6.
Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) and
Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) lost at the hands of Hannah Mulbarger and Madison Kane 1-6.
For singles, earning the No. 1 spot was Leite, dropping her match to Kane 0-6, 0-6. Penciled in the No. 2 spot today was Li, as she was defeated by Jordan 0-6, 4-6. No. 3 Arnautu was paired against the Cougars' Bautista, going down 2-6, 3-6.
Montero played No. 4 for the Mustangs, losing to the racket of Nguyen 2-6, 3-6. Blumberg rounded out the lineup as the Mustangs No.5 today. Blumberg lost her match 0-6, 0-6 to Malbarger.
The Mustangs will travel to Biola University tomorrow, March 13th at 3:00 PM MT.
