GLENDALE, AZ - The Western New Mexico Men's Tennis team traveled to Glendale, Ari. for a regular season match against the Firestorm of Arizona Christian. The Mustangs would earn their second win of the season, 5-2.
In doubles, No. 3 pairing of
Javier Romero (Tlalnepantla, Mexico/ETAC) and
Lorenzo Orellano Buratti (Acassuso, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Anibal Mensi) got things started quickly with a 6-1 win over the Firestorms' Josiah Tanguma and Jose Uzcategui. Winning the doubles point for the Mustangs was the No. duo of
Alexandre Frigout (/Ozanam/ St Jean) and
Romain Malhomme (/CNED), defeating Lennert Lemahieu and Adrian Smith in a thriller, 7-6 (7-1). Playing No.1 was
Brendan Lock (Cheyenne, Wyoming/Cheyenne South HS) and
Mohjit Grewal (Witten, Germany), as they were defeat 6-2 by Jonas Wand and Hugo Abril.
As for singles, No. 3 Romero got things started with a win over Abril. The match only went one set, as Abril retired after the first set, dropping 6-2 to Romero. No. 5 Grewal earned the next Mustang point with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory over Gustavo Montoya. The match clinching point came from the racket of Orellano, playing No. 6 with 6-0, 6-2 win over Tanguma. No. 4 Lock earned the Mustangs final points, as he took down smith 2-6, 6-1, 10-6.
Earning the No.1 spot was Malhomme, he fell to Abril 5-7, 2-6. Frigout was slotted in at No. 2 where he was defeated at the hand of wand, 6-1, 3-6, 4-10.

The Mustangs will be back in action tomorrow with matches against Colorado-Mesa and Ottawa (AZ) in Glendale, Ari.
