ALAMOSA, Colo. - Western New Mexico University's men's basketball team faced the Adams State Grizzlies this afternoon in the RMAC/LSC Conference Challenge on a snowy Saturday afternoon in Alamosa, Colorado. Despite a solid second-half comeback, the Mustangs were unable to maintain their momentum against the consistent and efficient Grizzlies, ultimately falling 88-80.
The Mustangs were led by
Quincy Adams (Frisco, TX/Hamilton High School) (Frisco, Texas), who scored 21 points on 6-15 shooting.
Carson Kelly (Chandler, AZ/Chandler High School) (Chandler, AZ/Chandler High School), who added 13 points, and
Donovan Black (Las Cruces, NM/Del Valle High School) (Las Cruces, NM), with 12 points of his own, were also big-time contributors.
In the first half, the Mustangs managed to keep the game within reach, shooting 41.20% from the field and 14.33% from three-point range. However, in the second half, there was still too much room for improvement as they managed only 40.60% from the field. The Mustangs, only being outscored by 8 points overall, were not able to overcome the stark point deficit by the end of the game.
The Mustangs will have some time to game-plan before their next match-ups at the Skyhawks Classic @ Fort Lewis in Durango, Co starting Friday, November 15, 2024, at 12 p.m. MDT
