WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Western New Mexico University Women's golf team wrapped up their fall season this week at the Midwestern State Invitational played at the Wichita Falls Country Club in Wichita Falls, TX on October 21-22, 2024. The Mustangs would play strong in a tough field of competition, finishing eighth out of 13 teams with a total score of +76 (314-313-313-940).
Brooklynn Maes (Las Cruces, NM/Centennial HS) led the Mustangs with a +17 finish (76-76-81-233). Consistent scores of +4 in her first two rounds and a +9 in the final round. Maes finished tied for 28th place overall.
Shandiin Harper (Farmington, NM/Piedra Vista HS) followed closely behind with a +18 (76-83-75-234) score, which included a challenging +11 in the second round but a strong +4 in the first round. Harper ended up tied for 32nd place.
Corynn Speer (Alamogordo, NM/Alamogordo, HS) finished at +23 (83-75-81-239), placing her in a tie for 45th. She showed resilience by carding a solid +3 in the second round but struggled with +9 and +11 in the other rounds.
Alexandria Klemke (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills HS) posted a +25 (79-79-83-241) for the tournament, with a notable +7 in her first and second rounds, but her final round of +11 pushed her to a tie for 50th place.
Falyn Lackey (Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) rounded out the team with a +35 (91-84-76-251), placing 61st overall.
The Mustangs will tee things back off in the spring at the Rattler Invitational February 24-25, 2025, from the Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.
