Mescalero, N.M.-The Western New Mexico University Men's Golf Team kicked off their fall season, hosting the RJGA South Central Shootout at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Golf Course in Mescalero, New Mexico, from September 30 to October 1, 2024. After three rounds of intense competition, the Mustangs secured a solid 5th-place finish with a combined score of 889 (+25). Their rounds were marked by steady play, shooting 288, 297, and 304 over the two-day event.
Arnav Arkanath (Milton Keynes, GB/Sir Henry Floyd HS) led the charge for WNMU, tying for 2nd place individually with an impressive score of 214 (-2), posting rounds of 68, 71, and 75.
Noa Tissot (La Tour-De-Peilz, Switzerland/Lavau Institute HS) followed closely, finishing in 9th at 217 (+1), with rounds of 70, 73, and 74.
Max Kaesebier (Bad Langensalza, Germany/Pierre-de-Coubertin Gymnasium) finished tied for 28th with a total of 228 (+12), while
Jayden Schmitz (Oro Valley, AZ/Ironwood Ridge HS) tied for 33rd at 231 (+15). Rounding out the lineup,
Tomas Ribeiro (Porto Seguro, BR/Evolução Centro HS) tied for 37th, finishing with a score of 235 (+19).
The Mustangs will compete next week in the Ryan Palmer Foundation Inv. Oct 7, 2024 through Oct 8, 2024, from the Amarillo CC in Amarillo, Texas.Â
