SILVER CITY, N.M. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the 2022-23 Easton NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete award winners. 11 players from the Western New Mexico University softball team have been named NFCA Scholar All-Americans to cap off their year.
To qualify for this award, you must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. As a team for the year, the Mustangs earned a 3.29 GPA. Seniors Cecy Jurado (El Monte, California/South El Monte High school) and Andi Uemura (Kona, Hawai'i/Konawaena High School), Junior Kennedy Jarrard (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad HS), Sophomores Kaylee Hickman (Cloudcroft, NM/Cloudcroft High School), Larysaa Morales, Samantha Gonzales (Miami, AZ/Miami High School) and Aryana Munoz (Dexter, New Mexico/Dexter High School) and Freshmen Adlai Alvidrez (El Paso, TX/Americas HS), Nichole Armijo (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain HS), Reya Adkins (Benson, AZ/ASU Digital Prep), and Madeline Bleak (Mesa, AZ/Mountain View HS).
"These eleven student athletes worked hard in the classroom and on the field all year," said Head Coach Ashley Hickman. "Our spring season can be grueling, but they attacked their classroom work with great intention. We are proud of them for their accomplishments!"
