SILVER CITY, N.M. - The Yard would be host to Senior night for the Mustangs on Saturday afternoon. WNMU would honor seniors, Andi Uemura (Kona, Hawai'i/Konawaena High School), Bryana Munoz (Dexter, NM/Dexter High School), Cecy Jurado (El Monte, California/South El Monte High school) and Breeanna Simmons (Chula Vista, CA/Olympian High School). Midwestern State would spoil senior night for the Mustangs 7-2.
MSU would get things started early in the first inning with a homerun from Jessika Roberts, to take a 1-0 lead.Â
In the second inning, MSU would get another run on the board with a single from Allie Monroe, scoring Paige Bryant. Bailey Brenek would follow suit with a grand slam, extending the lead to 6-0.Â
Brenek would hit into fielder's choice in the top of the 7th inning, scoring Roberts for a 7-0 cushion.
In the bottom of the 7th Kaylee Hickman (Cloudcroft, NM/Cloudcroft High School) would send one over the fence, trimming the lead, 7-1. Jenna Peters (Lake Elsinore, CA/Temescal Canyon HS) would continue things with a single to score Kennedy Jarrad, making it 7-2.
Emily Maddux (Douglas, AZ/Douglas High School) started for the Mustangs and pitched 1.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 Ks and 2 BB. Maddux is now (0-11) on the year.Â
Kamerynn Cordova (Fowler, CA/Fowler HS) would pitch in relief. Her line would read 5.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER and 1 K.
MSU would start Zoe Isom going 6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 BB and 3 Ks. Isom is now (4-7) on the season. Jasmine Trevino would pitch in relief, with a line of 1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R and 2 ER.
