DENTON, Texas - The Western New Mexico University softball team traveled to Denton, Texas for a matchup under the lights against Texas Woman's University. The Pioneers would take game one 5-0.
GAME ONE:
The Pioneers would get things started early in the 1st inning with a double from Tylar Lane to score Kennedy Marlow for a 1-0 lead.
In the 3rd inning Marlow would run home on a passed ball, making it 2-0.
Avery Boley would step up to the plate in the 5th inning with a single, bringing home Alyssa LeBlanc extending the lead to 3-0.
The Pioneers would get two more runs in the 6th inning as Kristin Rodriguez and Ciana Rodriguez would both score on an error. This would provide a 5-0 cushion for the Pioneers.
Kamerynn Cordova (Fowler, CA/Fowler HS) would get the start for the Mustangs. Her line would read 6.0 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 1 ER 4 BB and 3 Ks. Cordova is now (4-20) on the year.
The Pioneers would start Alyssa LeBlanc going 6.0 IP, 2 H, 2 BB and 9 Ks. LeBlanc is now (16-11) on the season. Kelsie Briggs would get the save pitching 1.0 IP and 1 H.
