TYLER, Texas - The Western New Mexico University softball team traveled to Tyler, Texas for a matchup with the #3 ranked team in the nation, UT Tyler. The Mustangs would fall in both games, 6-0, 15-0.
GAME ONE:
The Patriots would get things started early in the first inning with a homerun from JT Smith to take a 1-0 lead. The Patriots would not stop there as Maddie Melton would single to left, scoring Courtney Plocheck to make it 2-0.Â
In the 3rd inning Michelle Arias would single to left, bringing home Plocheck to extend the lead to 3-0.
Aries stepped back up to the plate in the 5th inning with another single to score Sam Schott for a 4-0 lead. Audry Escamilla would continue things in the 5th with another single, that would score Plocheck and Arias for a 6-0 cushion.
Kamerynn Cordova (Fowler, CA/Fowler HS)Â started for the Mustangs and would pitch 6.0 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 6 ER, ! BB and 3 Ks. Cordova is now (4-17) on the year.
The Patriots started Tatum Goff going 7.0 IP, 3 H and 10 Ks. Goff is now (27-0) on the season.

Cassidy Paulson (Arvada, CO/Golden Colorado HS) got the start for the Mustangs. Paulson's line read 2.1 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 7 ER and 3 BB. She is now (3-6) on the season.
 Emily Maddux (Douglas, AZ/Douglas High School) would replace Paulson going 0.0 IP, 2 H, 5 R, 5 ER and 2 BB. Kamerynn Cordova (Fowler, CA/Fowler HS) would replace Maddux in the same inning going 1.2 IP, 7 H, 3 H and 3 ER.
UT Tyler's Shea O'Leary got the start in game two. O'Leary would go 4.0 IP, 2 H, and 1 BB. She is now (11-2) on the year. Kaylee Davis would finish out the game for the Patriots going 1.0 IP and 1 BB.
The 3rd inning would be where it all went wrong for the Mustangs. Plocheck would start things off with a sacrifice fly, scoring Cassidi Mullen for a 1-0 lead. Arias followed with a single, scoring Smith to make it 2-0. Schott would then score on a wild pitch for a 3-0 lead. Following Schott was Arias scoring on back-to-back wild pitches for a 4-0 cushion.Â
Continuing in the 3rd inning, Avery Farr would reach on fielder's choice to score Berlyn Grossman to extend the lead to 5-0. Then Melton would steal home to make it 6-0. Smith would step up to the plate again, hitting a single to right, scoring Grace Davis and Amanda Marek to cushion the lead to 8-0.Â
The Patriots were still not done in the 3rd inning as Millen was walked in to make it 9-0. Arias would get another crack at the plate, scoring Schott and Smith to extend the lead to 11-0. Escamilla would follow suit, scoring Plocheck for a 12-0 lead. Taryn Barney would get a chance as well with a single to score Arias and Escamilla for a 14-0 advantage. Mullen would do the final damage in the inning with a single to score Barney for a 15-0 cushion.
