TYLER, Texas - The Western New Mexico University softball team would play the final game of a three-game series against the #3 ranked team in the nation, UT Tyler. The Mustangs would lose 10-1 in 5 innings. 

The Patriots would get things started early in the first inning with a single from Michelle Arias to score JT Smith to take a 1-0 lead. 

In the third inning Arias would single to left, bringing home Smith to extend the lead to 2-0. With the bases loaded, Avery Farr would be hit by a pitch to bring home Sam Schott to make it 3-0. Another bases loaded walk would be issued to bring home Arias for a 4-0 cushion. 

The third inning would not end there for the Patriots, as Cassidi Mullen would single to send home Angelique Rangel and Farr to extend the lead to 6-0. Another bases loaded walk would bring home Amanda Marek for a 7-0.

In the top of the 4th inning the Mustangs would finally get on the board with a solo home run from Ramona Fossum (Mescalero, NM/Mescalero Apache HS) to cut into the deficit 7-1.

The Patriots would continue scoring in the bottom of the 4th inning with a double from Keely Castillo to score Audry Escamill and Arias, making it 9-1. Marek would step up to plate next to send Maddie Melton home for a 10-1 cushion.

Kamerynn Cordova (Fowler, CA/Fowler HS) started for the Mustangs and would pitch 2.2 IP, 3 H, 7 R, 7 ER and 3 BB. Cordova is now (4-18) on the year. Pitching in relief was Aryana Munoz (Dexter, New Mexico/Dexter High School). Munoz would go 0.1 IP, 1 H, and 2 BB. Finishing out the game was Cassidy Paulson (Arvada, CO/Golden Colorado HS). Her line would read 1.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R and 3 ER.

The Patriots started Tatum Goff going 4.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER and 7 Ks. Goff is now (28-0) on the season. Shea O'Leary would finish the game with a line of 1.0 IP, 1 H and 1 K.

The Mustangs will return to The Yard for Senior Weekend against Midwestern State this Friday.
