GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Western New Mexico Women's Golf team finished the RJGA Palm Valley Classic at Palm Valley Golf Course on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs would finish T-15th at (+49), 313-312-625.
Taysea Powell (Artesia, NM/Artesia HS) would lead the way for the Mustangs. Powell would finish T-28th at (+7), carding a 78 in round two. She would finish the tournament with five birdies and one eagle.
Freshman Alexandria Klemke (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills HS) finished T-54th at (+11), with a scorecard reading of 76. Klemke would record five birdies for the tournament.
T-74th is Shandiin Harper (Farmington, NM/Piedra Vista HS) at (+14), shooting a 79. Harper finished Palm Valley with six birdies.
Mia Trousdale (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) rounds out the lineup T-87th at (+17), with a card of 79. Trousdale would manage four birdies for the tournament.
West Texas A&M and Colorado Christian would tie for 1st at (+10). West Texas A&M would win the playoff after one hole (-1 to +2). Colorado Mesa would round out the top three at (+23).
Sofia Benavides of Oklahoma Christian would win the tournament at (-1). T-2nd was Kiersten Bryant of Colorado Christian and Alyssa Campbell of West Texas A&M at E.
The Mustangs will be back in action on April 24th in Thackerville, Okla. for the Lone Star Conference Championships.
