WICHITA FALLS, TX – The Western New Mexico University Men's Tennis team traveled to Wichita Falls, Texas, to face Midwestern State University, before falling 7-0.
MSU secured the doubles point and took the early 1-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles, Yu Jhe Du (New Taipei City/Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School) and Brendan Lock (Cheyenne, Wyoming/Cheyenne South HS) came out on top with a 6-3 win. No. 2 duo's partners with Javier Romero (Tlalnepantla, Mexico/ETAC) and Patricio Larrea (Ambato, Ecuador/Atenas High School) would fall 6-2. No. 3 doubles partners, Paul Claussen (Balingen, Germany/Gymnasium Balingen) and Lachlan Rowing (Canberra, Australia/Finigan School of Distance Education) were defeated 6-3.
Playing at the No. 3 position, Du fell 6-2, 6-2. Playing in the No.1 spot, Larrea was defeated 6-0, 6-2. Playing at No. 2 singles, Rowing had a tough battle before falling 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
At. No. 4 Singles, Romero took his opponent to three sets before being defeated 6-3, 2-6, 4-6. Playing at the No. 6 spot, Claussen lost 6-3, 6-2. Playing at No. 5 singles, Lock lost after pushing the game to three sets with scores of 3-6, 7-5, 0-1 (10-6).
Mustangs will head to Lubbock Christian University, April 1st with a start time of 9:00AM.
