LAREDO, TX - Playing at the Dustdevil Softball field in Laredo, TX, the Western New Mexico University Mustangs lost both games to Texas A&M International. The Game one score was 6-1 and game two, the Mustangs lost 3-1.

GAME ONE:

Getting the start in game one, Kamerynn Cordova (Fowler, CA/Fowler HS) went 5.0 IP, 6 H, 6 R (3 ER), 1 K, and 3 BB. She is now (2-10) on the year. Jasmin Kirby (Surprise, AZ/State Farm Stadium HS) finished out the game throwing, 1.0 IP and 1 H..

The Mustangs got on the board first in the 3rd inning after Bryana Munoz (Dexter, NM/Dexter High School) hit an RBI single. WNMU led 1-0.

In the top of the bottom of the 3rd inning, TAMIU's Kristy Alanis hit a two RBI single. Tajanae Davis then hit an RBI sacrifice fly, giving the Dustdevil a 3-1 lead.

Headed to the bottom of the 6th inning, the Dustdevils scored after Eva Garcia hit a sacrifice which led to an error and brought in a run. Kristin Maldonado then had a sacrifice of her own, bringing in a run. Alanis then singled in a run to give TAMIU a 6-1 lead.

The Dustdevils started Erika Cortez who threw a complete game. She is now (6-5) on the year. She went 7.0 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 7 K, 1 BB, and 2 HBP.

GAME TWO:

Emily Maddux (Douglas, AZ/Douglas High School) got the loss (0-6) after surrendering 4.1 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 3 K, and 3 BB. Aryana Munoz (Dexter, New Mexico/Dexter High School) finished the game and went 1.2 IP, 3 H, and 2 K. 

Ramona Fossum (Mescalero, NM/Mescalero Apache HS) got the Mustangs an early lead after hitting an RBI single. WNMU led 1-0 after the 4th inning.

In the 5th inning, TAMIU got all three of their runs. Tajanae Davis had an RBI single to right center. Kristy Alanis followed suit with an RBI single up the middle. Kennedy Griego also had an RBI single to left field. TAMIU took a 3-1 lead.

TAMIU's starting pitcher, Carla Arellano threw a complete game, earning the win and is now (6-4). She went 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, and 5 K.
