Box Score Arlington, TX – The Western New Mexico University Men's Tennis team played LSC foe, Dallas Baptist University. WNMU would take a 5-2 win against the Patriots.
"We started off with lower energy in doubles than expected," said Interim Head Coach Jesus Baltazar. "We quickly picked up our energy in singles which contributed to our win today."
Playing at the No. 3 spot, Javier Romero (Tlalnepantla, Mexico/ETAC) and Patricio Larrea earned a win, defeating their opponent 7-5. No. 1 doubles duo, Yu Jhe Du (New Taipei City/Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School) and Brendan Lock (Cheyenne, Wyoming/Cheyenne South HS) lost 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, Lachlan Rowing (Canberra, Australia/Finigan School of Distance Education) and Paul Claussen (Balingen, Germany/Gymnasium Balingen) fell short, 6-4.
Playing in the No. 6 position, Claussen swept his opponent 6-1, 6-3. Playing at No. 5, Lock would win in consecutive sets 6-4, 6-4. Du played a t the No. 3 spot and win in a close 7-5, 7-5 match.
Romero played No. 4 position would win in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. No. 1 singles player, Larrea, would also snag the win, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Rowing played at the No. 2 position lost 6-3, 6-1.
The Mustangs play again March 15th, in Irvine, CA, facing Concordia University-Irvine.
