Box Score Silver City, N.M. - Saturday afternoon, the Western New Mexico University Men's tennis team played the University of Texas at Permian Basin, at the Mustang Tennis Courts. The Mustangs fell 6-1 to the LSC foe.

In doubles, the Mustangs round not grasp the doubles point, giving the advantage to UTPB. No. 1 doubles duo was Yu Jhe Du (New Taipei City/Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School) and Brendan Lock (Cheyenne, Wyoming/Cheyenne South HS), as the fell 6-2. No. 2 partners ,Lachlan Rowing (Canberra, Australia/Finigan School of Distance Education) and Paul Claussen (Balingen, Germany/Gymnasium Balingen), were edged out 6-2 as well. Playing at the No. 3 position, Javier Romero (Tlalnepantla, Mexico/ETAC) and Gabriel Lossau (Aachen, Germany/Pius Gymnasium Aachen) put the best efforts before losing 6-4.

In singles, No. 4 singles position, Brendan Lock (Cheyenne, Wyoming/Cheyenne South HS) had a huge win his matchup going, 5-7, 7-6 (7-4), 10-6. Du played at the No. 2 singles spot and battled to the end before falling 5-7, 6-1, 9-11. Paul Claussen (Balingen, Germany/Gymnasium Balingen) played. At the No. 5 spot before being edged out 6-5, 4-6, 6-10.

No.1 Rowing had an intense match before falling 6-2, 6-3. At the No. 3 position, Romero lost in consecutive sets, 6-2, 6-2. Lorenzo Orellano Buratti (Acassuso, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Anibal Mensi) played a tough match before losing 6-3, 6-2.

The Mustangs will be back in action March 10 th to face University of Texas at Tyler, in Denton, TX. On March 11th, the Mustangs will travel to Dallas Baptist for more LSC competition.
