Litchfield Park, AZ – The Western New Mexico University Women's Golf team looked to wrap up their time in Arizona after playing in the 12 team, SMSU Spring Invitational at the Wigwam Blue Course. At the end of the tournament, the Mustangs finished with a scorecard of 640 (330-310) placing the team in fourth place.
Taysea Powell (Artesia, NM/Artesia HS) would lead the Mustangs in a strong finish moving her up 15 rankings from day one. Powell finished in third place with a final card of 155 (82-73) and shot +13. Valeria Enriquez (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) would come up next for the team finishing in T-13th shooting +19 with a total of 161 (79-82). Individual player, Mia Trousdale (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) finished in 16th place shooting +20 in the entire tournament carding 162 (82-80).
Finishing in T-18th, Mustang Amanda Portillo (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) shot +22, ending with a total of 164 (84-80). Next in line was Chelsea Medina (Silver City, NM/Silver HS) finishing T-21 with a scorecard of 165 (89-76). Shandiin Harper (Farmington, NM/Piedra Vista HS) ended the invitational in T-25th, shooting +24, with a final scorecard of 166 (85-81).
Missouri Western State University's Allycia Gan placed first in the tournament with a final card of 149 (76-73), followed by Morgan Thiele of Northwest Missouri in second place carding 152 (78-74).
The Mustangs would leave the tournament being the only team to score an eagle throughout the entire tournament.
Colorado Springs would take first in the invitational carding 633. In second place was Nebraska-Kearney with a scorecard of 635, and Missouri Western State in third place ending with a total of 639.
