Solid Finish in The Cactus Thaw for the Mustangs As The Team Ties for Third

El Paso, Texas –  After two long days of continuous golf, the Western New Mexico University Men's Golf is heading home after hosting the 'Cactus Thaw!' at the Painted Dunes Desert Golf Course in El Paso, Texas. The team's final score after the two-day tournament was +4 and a total score of 580 (290-290) ranking them tied for third. 

Two Mustangs were able to pull through in the top-15: Adam Niles (Kamloops, BC/Valley View Secondary) tied for 5th scoring -3 overall with a card of 142 (73-69). Niles jumped up ten rankings from yesterday's round. Joey Geary (Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope HS) is right behind him with an E (144-72-72) for thr tournament tieing for 7th place. 

Adam Samnegard (Norrkoping, SWE/Hagagymnasiet HS/Garden City CC) was one below being in the top-15 tieing for 16th with a final score card of 146 (70-76) and sitting +2. Arnav Arkanath (Milton Keyes, GB/Sir Henry Floyd HS)  moved up one ranking and finished tied for 27th. His final score card was 149 (75-74) being +5 to par. Playing as an individual is Aaron Perales (Deming, NM/Deming HS) ending +7 to par and a grand score card of 151 (75-76).  

Following his teammate is Roman Romero (Albuquerque, NM/Manzano HS) who did much better in day two of the Cactus Thaw Tournament carding 156 (81-75) overall and ended today being +3 to par. 
 
Also playing as an indiviaul for the Mustangs is Yong To Kum carding +20  to par for the tournament and a final score of 164. 

WNMU lead the tournament in Par 3s averaging 3.05 as Adam Niles (Kamloops, BC/Valley View Secondary) lead  all the teams in Par 3s with an average of 2.75. The Mustangs were third in two categories: birdies with a total of 32 and eagles with 1 at the end of the tournament. 

New Mexico Junior College's Mattis Lefevre and Odessa College's Sangha Park tied for first place both earning -6 to par with a final score card of 138 (70-68, 68-70).  Gregor Graham of Midland Community College finished -5 to par carding 139 (71-68) at the end of the tournament. 

Midland Community College would secure the win totaling 571 followed by New Mexico Junior College in second with 577 and Garden City Community College in third (tieing with the Mustangs) with 580.
