DuPont, Wash. – The Western New Mexico University Women's Golf team teed off their first fall competition of the year, playing at the Home Course in DuPont, WA. After the first round, the Mustangs sit in 6th place.
Shandin Harper, Mia Trousdale (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS), veterans Amanda Portillo (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS), and Chelsea Medina (Silver City, NM/Silver HS) all finished within a stroke of each other.Â
First year Mustang, Harper, playing as an individual finished T9th (+6) carding a 78. Trousdale, also playing in her first match as a Mustang, ended the day T11th (+7) with a 79.
Veteran Mustangs, Portillo and Medina were right behind. Portillo, T14th (+8) carding an 80 and Medina T19th (+9) with an 81.
Valerie Enriquez and Tayse Powell conclude the Mustangs. Enriquez finished the day with an 83 (T22) and Powell with an 84 (T25).
The Mustangs will tee-off around 8:30am, Tuesday morning, for the last round of the SMU Invitational.
