LSC to hold football preseason media day on July 26
RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference's annual football preseason media day is set for Monday, July 26, in McKinney, Texas. Announced at Media Day, the Mustangs are picked 8th in the preseason conference poll.
With the 2021 season upcoming, all eight football coaches will be at the McKinney ISD Stadium and Community Event Center for a luncheon with the media. During the event, league officials will reveal the preseason poll and players of the year.
The day begins with registration followed by lunch, a brief program, remarks from each football coach and student-athlete and an open interview session.
The program will be streamed live on the LSC Digital Network at www.lonestarconferencenetwork.com starting at 11 a.m. MDT (https://lonestarconferencenetwork.com/?bfplayvid=280001)
The season kicks off Thursday, September 2 and the LSC has eight teams set to compete in 2021. Each team will play seven conference games to determine the LSC Champion.
The 2020 season was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The LSC did not sponsor a spring season in the sport of football.
McKinney ISD Stadium is the home of the NCAA Division II Football Championship game. The LSC and McKinney ISD held the 2018 and 2019 championship contests and are set to host the next five title games. The McKinney ISD Stadium and Community Event Center, a 12,000-seat facility built primarily for football, will host the Division II Football Championship on Dec. 18, 2021; December 17, 2022; December 16, 2023; December 21, 2024; and December 20, 2025.
The Mustangs were announced 8th in the preseason conference poll. Texas A&M-Commerce was picked No. 1 with (15) 175 votes. Angelo State follows with (2)152; No 3. (1) West Texas A&M (125), T-No.4 UTPB, T-4 (5) 112, T-4 Midwestern State 112, No. 6 ENMU 60, No. 7 Texas A&M-Kingsville 59, and No. 8 WNMU with 33 votes.
