Azusa, CA – Friday evening, Western New Mexico University's Cross Country members Britney Lovato (Rio Rancho, NM/Cleveland High School) and Michael Anzures (Seboyeta, NM/Grants HS) competed in the Azusa Pacific University's Bryan Clay Invitational. Lovato's hard work all fall paid off, as she broke the school record in the 5000m.
Starting around 10:10pm MT, Lovato started the 5000m. In 17:46.49, Lovato crossed the finish line in 28th and owner of WNMU's 5000m record.
Anzures ran first for the Mustangs, taking off at 9:50pm MT. Crossing the finish line in 57th, Anzures finished with a time of 15:03.56. Â
The Mustangs will be running again next week at the Don Kirby Tailwind Open, host by the University of New Mexico on April 22nd.
