San Antonio, TX – The Western New Mexico University's Cross Country made the journey to San Antonio TX, racing the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational.
The Lady Mustangs competed in two different events. Sophia Rodriquez and Maggie Orr (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert HS) competed in the 1500m. Orr finished in 36th with a time of 5:20.59 and Sophia Rodriquez finished 42nd crossing the finish line at 5:29.22. Britney Lovato (Rio Rancho, NM/Cleveland High School) ran the 5000m, finishing in 3rd place with a time of 18:18.96.
Five mustang men competed in the 5000m. Michael Anzures was the first Mustang to finish, with a time of 15:04.86, good enough for 5th place. Dorian Carrasco was able to run independently, crossing the 15:41.20. Cody Hepker (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia HS) finished in 17th, with a time of 15:47.16. Finishing in 19th, Joshua Lara (Albuquerque, NM/Atrisco Heritage Academy HS) crossed the line at 15:55.83. David Ceballos (El Paso, TX/San Elizario HS) finished the race at 16:08.82 and in 21st.
The Mustangs will be running again as the time, date, and location are to be determined.
