Hunt Builds On Men's Tennis With Lachlan Rowing

Silver City, NM -  Continuing to add to the Fall of 2022 recruiting class, Western New Mexico University's Men's Tennis Head Coach, Alex Hunt has signed Lachlan Rowing. WNMU Athletics would like to welcome Lachlan to the Mustang Family!

"I'm very excited about Lachlan," said Hunt. " Right away, I got a feeling about how impactful his specific game style could be at the NCAA DII level. "

Rowing, from Canberra, Australia, has quite the accolades. In 2016 he was the U/12 New South Wales Country Champion Singles Champion and 2017 he would be the U/13 New South Wales Country Champion Singles Champion as well. Playing in the 2018 18/U Riverina Open, Rowing found himself as the singles champion.

Continuing to be dominant on the court, in 2020 he was ACT Men's Residents Singles Champions and the ACT U/18 Singles and Doubles State Champion. Rowing's sportsmanship, talent, and pride of the game was honored after being selected in 2020 to the ACT Pizzy Cup (Australian Schools Championship) Leadership Team.

In 2021, he would go on to appear in two UTR Professional Series Australia Events. Rowing was award the New South Wales Combined High Schools First-Team and was the New South Wales Combined High Schools Opens Doubles Silver Medalist.

"Lachlan is a very powerful player with a lot of finesse when he gets up to the net. It's rare at the junior and collegiate level to come across such a powerful guy with actual clean ground strokes and volleys," said Hunt. " I'm excited to see what Lachlan can do here at WNMU over the course of his 4 years."
