Mustangs Drop Match to Rams in Three

Silver City, NM – The Western New Mexico University Volleyball matched up this afternoon against the Angelo State University Rambelles. The Mustangs battled head to head but fell short to the Rambelles in three sets.

For the Mustang offense, senior Bria Augustine (Bellflower, CA/Mayfair High School) had an excellent match tonight with 14 kills after three sets. Second kill leader is senior Maggie Roe (Boulder City, NV/Boulder City High School) who had 10 kills and 1 block helping the Mustangs tremendously.

Silver City native, Marlaynah McDonald (Silver City, N.M./Silver High School) had some momentum changing, cross court kills giving her 6 kills during the match.

Mustang Veteran Madelynn Culp (Vancouver, WA/Union High School) ended the night with 18 assists, 1 ace, and 7 digs playing a huge role in the match. Hailey Hertzog (Phoenix, AZ/Chaparral High School) totaled up 13 assists with 1 ace and 6 digs.

As for the Mustang defense, dig leader, Eliana Moultrie (El Paso, TX/Canutillo HS) had an excellent match not allowing anything to fall on the Mustang side of the court.

Set one was in favor of the Rambelles just barely out beating the Mustangs in offensive kills and digs giving them the win 25-18 over WNMU. The Rams put up a strong offense in set two ending the match with 17 kills costing the Mustangs to be defeated 26-24 in a very close set. In the final set (three), the Rambelles defense did not allow for excellent Mustang hits to go towards kills. Although the Mustangs played with passion and competitiveness, they were unfortunately unable to get out of a hole and were defeated 25-15 by the Rams.

WNMU Mustangs head back on the road for their final away matches against Dallas Baptist University and Texas Woman's University on November 6th and November 11th
