Wichita Falls, TX – Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls, TX, was packed as Western New Mexico University Football was defeated in their last Lone Star Conference matchup against Midwestern State 52-10.
The Mustangs had more first downs than MSU but couldn't find paydirt until the fourth quarter. Devin Larsen (Gilbert, AZ/Queen Creek HS) had 355 passing yards and a touchdown but had two interceptions.Â
The Mustangs leading receiver was Allen Ortiz (Lakewood, CO/Green Mountain HS), who had three catches for 80 yards and a touchdown. Kenny Allen (Los Angeles, CA/Fairfax HS) also had three catches for 95 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, Kaleb Gutierrez (El Paso, TX/Franklin HS) had 8 tackles including 5 solo. Tylen Coleman (Maricopa, AZ/Maricopa HS) and Jenson Misa'alefua (Carson, CA/Carson HS) both found the quarterback getting a half sack each.
The Mustangs had two scores in the fourth quarter. Nick Herber got the Mustangs on the board first with a 30 yard field goal. Later in the quarter, Larsen found Ortiz for a 25 yard touchdown.
Midwestern State's offense was rolling all night long. They passed for 349 yards and rushed for 264 yards.
Dillon Sterling-Cole passed for 205 yards and three touchdowns. Neiko Hollins got in the game and made the most of it, passing for 144 yards and a touchdown. K'vonte Jackson rushed 6 times for 91 yards and found the endzone. Jalen March had 8 rushes for 84 yards and had a touchdown.
Four different MSU receivers had a touchdown. Kylan Harrison was the leading receiver with 7 receptions for 129 yards. Jayden Moore had three catches for 122 yards. Having two catched for 66 yards, Ja'Juan Mason found himself in the endzone and Ja'Marzeyea had two catches for 3 yards and a touchdown grab.
WNMU will head home for their final two games of the season. WNMU places Central Washington at 12:00pm, November 6th and will play New Mexico Highlands on November 20th, for a noon kickoff. Â
