Lady Mustangs Unable to Keep Up with Rambelles

San Angelo, TX--Western New Mexico entered Thursday's Lone Star Conference game looking for a big road win against the conference leading Angelo St. Rambelles.

The game was close early as the Rambelles held the lead after the first quarter 30-23. The scoring would slow a bit in the second quarter but ASU managed to extend their lead going to halftime to 47-34.

The second half would be all Rambelles as they outscored the Mustangs in both of the final two periods to hold on for a final score of 88-51.

Western was led by Cassandra Vickery (Tularosa, NM/Tularosa) who scored 15 points, while Sara Lopez (El Paso, Texas/Horizon High School) and Ciara Fields (El Paso, TX/El Dorado) each added 10.

The Mustangs continue their road trip Saturday when they take on Texas A&M-Kingsville.
