Wichita Falls, Tex. – It was a meeting of the Mustangs Saturday in Memorial Stadium on the campus of Midwestern State, but only one would take home the win. MSU Texas would not be denied on Senior Day, taking a 28-13 win over WNMU.

TOP PERFORMERS:

CJ Fowler (Mesa, AZ/Desert Ridge HS)20-of-49 | 156-yards | 1 TD

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Both teams were forced to punt in their first two drives of the game.
  • At the WNMU 27-yard line, Matthew Macon (Hesperia, CA/Hesperia) would snag a pass by Triston Williams at the WNMU 2 yard line, returning it all the way back to the 41. Penalties against the defense would prove no play, and the ball remained in MSU's possession.
  • MSU Texas rushed it in the last few yards to score first.
  • A 23-yard rush from DeAndre Williams (Tucson, AZ/Tucson Magnet) put Western over the midfield and into MSU territory.
  • An MSU penalty put WNMU on the 8-yard line, with Josh Powell driving it in for the last few yards, tied at 7.
  • In scoring position once again, WNMU would opt for a 21-yard field goal from Igancio Correa to take a 10-7 lead.
  • Correa would take the field immediately after, executing a 15-yard on-side kick, recovered by Issac Crichton for another WNMU possession.
  • Despite being on the MSU half of the field, WNMU could not complete the drive.
  • Triston Williams would fine Kylan Harrison for a 51-yarder, putting MSU back on top with just under a minute left in the first half, headed into the break with a 14-10 edge.
  • In the third, Williams would sling another 76-yard pass to put his team up 21-10.
  •  At the start of the fourth, Matthew Macon (Hesperia, CA/Hesperia) would get what would have been his second interception of the game, returning it 68-yards to the MSU30.
  • Ignacio Correa (Midland, TX/Midland) made it a perfect 2-for-2 on the day, with a 32-yard field goal in the forth to cut into the lead.
  • Izell Price (Detroit, MI/Westlake HS ) chipped in an interception, giving his team one final opportunity to score.
  • Turning it over on downs, MSU sent their seniors off with a 28-13 win.
