HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • In the following possession, WNMU capped off a 14-play, 91-yard drive as DeAndre Willams carried it in for two-yards for the second WNMU score halfway through the first quarter.
  • With the possession going into the second quarter, TAMUK's Koy Detmer Jr. found Ryan Martinez for an 18-yard touchdown.
  • In formation to punt on fourth and two, Vincent Brown (Los Angeles, CA/Artesia) took the snap and snuck by 41-yards to put his team in scoring position.
  • A sack and fumble by the Javelinas put the Mustangs in a 4th and 28 predicament, but Fowler found Isaac Crichton (Honolulu, HI/Saint Francis) on the following play for a 28-yard reception to go up 20-7.
  • Igancio Correa helped his team go up 23-7 on a 29-yard field goal.
  • Just under a minute to play, TAMUK scored once more for their second score of the quarter.
  • Starting the second half, it would be the Javelinas who scored first to pull within three.
  • As the visiting team started to cut into the lead, WNMU would answer on a 28-yard reception to Reggie Colson III (Hollywood, FL/South Borward HS) to keep the distance.
  • A TAMUK field goal, followed by a big play by the Javelina defense to give them possession led them to tie the game at 30.
  • The fourth and final quarter was all TAMUK as they started off with a pick-six, followed by a recovered fumble at the WNMU 4-yard line gave way to the 44-30 win.
