ALAMOSA, Colo. – Following a successful start to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule, the Western New Mexico University softball team will head to Colorado to face Adams State University this weekend.

WNMU (7-12, 3-1 RMAC) took both games from Black Hills State and then split with Colorado School of Mines. Freshman
Clarissa Moreno (Tucson, AZ/Desert View) leads the team with a .366 batting average collecting 15 hits, three doubles and three RBI. Senior
Alicia Enriquez (Gilbert, AZ/Mesquite) is right behind posting a .364 average with 12 hits, a double, a triple and six RBI. Sophomore
Mariangela Garcia (Tucson, AZ/Desert View) rounds out the three Lady Mustangs hitting over .300 coming in at a .345 clip with 19 hits, five doubles, a triple, a home run and eight RBI. Senior
Thailyza Ramirez (Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad) leads the team in home runs with two and RBI with nine. WNMU hits .279 as a team, while opponents hold a .328 average.

Domi Shone (Gold Canyon, AZ/Mesquite) has logged the most time going 68 innings in 16 appearances, which also includes nine starts, six complete games and a shutout. She is 4-6 on the season with a 3.81 ERA. Freshman
Tiana Salazar (Peoria, AZ/Peoria) has tossed 25.2 innings and is 3-1 with a 2.45 ERA. Senior
MaryJo Granger (Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad) has added 24.1 innings with a 0-5 record and 6.04 ERA. WNMU has a 3.97 team ERA and opponents counter with a 2.38 ERA.
ASU (3-13, 1-3 RMAC) lost three of four against MSU Denver to start conference play on the road this past weekend. Kalin Johnson leads the team with a .283 batting average and adds three triples and eight RBI. Gabrielle Griego has drilled three home runs and adds seven RBI. The Grizzlies hit .214 as a team, while opponents hold a .284 average.
In the circle, Lauren Murphy has the top ERA at 3.79 in 40.2 innings of work. She is 2-6 on the season with three complete games in nine starts. Kaitlin Hoffmann has the other victory going 1-3 on the young season with a 4.83 ERA in 29 innings. They have a 4.67 team ERA and opponents have a 1.88 ERA.
WNMU swept last year's meeting in Silver City. This will be the first time WNMU has played at Adams State since the 2011 season.
