The first set looked to be heading the way of WSCU (0-16, 0-12 RMAC) after jumping out to a 16-11 lead. Verrill posted a solo block to tie the set at 20 when WSCU would go on a 5-1 run to close the set with a 25-21 win to force the match to the fourth.

The Lady Mustangs looked to be in good shape in the fourth holding a 13-10 lead on a solo block by Rich. Out of a WSCU timeout, they would go on a 9-0 run to take a 19-13 lead. The Mountaineers wouldn't let up, keeping the pressure going to take the set, 25-17, to send the match to a decisive fifth.
