NEW YORK, N.Y. – Senior wide receiver Donald Byrd (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly) hauled in a USA College Football Division II Player of the Week honor for his performance this past weekend against nationally-ranked Colorado School of Mines.

Byrd was also named to the USA College Football Division II Preseason All-America list landing on the Second-Team offense and as a return specialist. Members of the class of 2015 are eligible to participate in the USA College Football Bowl that takes place January 16-20 in Jackson, Miss.

Byrd tallied a career-high 183 yards receiving Saturday against No. 16 Colorado Mines. He did that damage on 14 receptions and also reached the end zone twice. He has three games this season with over 100 yards receiving. He ranks seventh in the nation in receiving yards (712), and eighth in yards per game (118.7). He was an honorable mention for RMAC Offensive Player of the Week. He also earned WNMU Student-Athlete of the Week honors.

WNMU will host Colorado Mesa University this Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
