As the story went the previous six RMAC competitions, WNMU had little problem with their competition on Friday afternoon. The Mustangs received a bye in the first round of the RMAC Tournament and then took on no. 4 Metro State, who defeated no. 5 Mesa State earlier in the day. WNMU gave the Roadrunners few chances and blanked them once again, 5-0.
All three doubles made quick work with
Yair Banuelos (Mexico City, Mexico, Universidal del Valle de Mexico, Riverside Community College) and
Henning Thrien (Gelsenkirchen, Germany, Carl Friedrick Gaus Gymnasium, Hope International University) allowing only one point.
Emmanuel Mensah (Accra, Ghana, ITF Center Home, Mt. San Jacinto College) and Thrien then put the nail in the coffin, posting the final two points for WNMU.
WNMU will now take on no. 3 MSU-Billings in the championship match at 12:00 p.m. Saturday.
