UPDATE (Mar. 11, 2011) WNMU men's tennis had a chance to finish what they started at Concordia-Irvine. The match first began on Monday but was cut short because of rain and darkness. WNMU was down, 4-3, after the first day and came back on Thursday to win, 5-4.

Jean Benoit Belin (Nimes, France, Emmanuel d'Alzon High School, Staps University (France)) finished his singles match on Thursday with a 6-4 and 6-3 victory to tie the score at four. Rodrigo Almeida (Arapongas, Brazil, Nene Lourenco High School) then downed his opponent after being down 3-2 in the second set. He won four straight games to clinch the match.

“This trip was by far the toughest in terms of ranked opponents on a national level,” says head coach Erik Burton. “It was great to get a win.”

(Mar. 8, 2011) After a bit of rain delay, the Mustangs came out flat in Monday's match at Concordia-Irvine. WNMU was down, 2-1, after doubles and were bouncing back in singles, but the match was called because of darkness. The Eagles were up, 4-3, at judgment time. No make-up date has been scheduled.

“If we could have finished the match, our men were on their way to a 5-4 win with our No. 6 singles at 6-2 and up 5-2 up in the second. Our No. 5 singles also won his first set, 6-4,” says head coach Erik Burton.

At No. 1 singles, Emmanuel Mensah (Accra, Ghana, ITF Center Home, Mt. San Jacinto College) defeated his opponent, Andrey Potapkin, 7-6 and 6-3. Several days ago, Potapkin defeated the No. 1 player in the nation, Kirill Sinitsyn from Fresno Pacific.
