The Mustangs were caught in a hole after doubles Wednesday against Fresno Pacific, the No. 1 NAIA school in the country. WNMU couldn't bounce back and was blanked, 9-0.

At the No. 1 doubles spot, Emmanuel Mensah (Accra, Ghana, ITF Center Home, Mt. San Jacinto College) and Johan Weich (Landskrona, Sweden, Filbornaskolan High School, Hope International University) were neck-and-neck with their opponents but fell in the tiebreaker (9-8 (5)).

Mensah almost walked away with a point in singles. He dropped the first set (6-2) and then came back in the second (7-6). He wasn't able to hold on in the 10-point breaker in the third set. “He lost to the Super Bowl champion. The Super Bowl are consisted of the best players at DII, DIII, NAIA, and junior college levels,” explains assistant coach Carolina Hannes.

“Once again, the doubles hurt us. By not winning any of them just gave Fresno Pacific even more confidence. Mensah played a great singles match and got really close to beat one of the best players in the nation,” concludes Hannes
