The Mustangs bounced back Sunday after being skunked by UNM the day before. They blanked CSU-Pueblo, 9-0, in non-conference action on neutral territory in Albuquerque.
At No. 2 doubles,
Henning Thrien (Gelsenkirchen, Germany, Carl Friedrick Gaus Gymnasium, Hope International University) and
Yair Banuelos (Mexico City, Mexico, Universidal del Valle de Mexico, Riverside Community College) did not give the ThunderWolves any chances. They cruised to the easy 8-0 victory.
At No. 1 singles,
Emmanuel Mensah (Accra, Ghana, ITF Center Home, Mt. San Jacinto College), a newcomer at semester, did the same with two straight 6-0 victories.
“The Mustangs kept up the good playing and the high intensity throughout singles play, not giving up any of the matches,” says assistant coach Carolina Hannes. “Today was a great came back for the guys after the loss against UNM yesterday. They came out playing really hard. It was definitely a good start of our season.”
The Mustangs are now 1-1 on the season.
