If you saw the matches Friday night, you saw a nearly identical match Saturday except for it went to four sets and not five. WNMU started out strong against Colorado School of Mines on Homecoming night, winning the first set, 25-23, and was shaky in the second and lost a close one, 25-20. After intermission, the Mustangs just fell apart. They dropped the third set, 25-6, and the fourth, 25-21, to end the match early.
WNMU had only eight kills in the final two sets but committed 15 errors. Overall, the team hit .072 on the night. CSM, on the other hand, hit a solid .258.
Natali Murdock (Phoenix, AZ, Pinnacle High School) and
Heather Rux (Cottonwood, AZ, Mingus Union High School) were the only Mustangs to post more than four kills on the night. Murdock had 10 while Rux registered 11.
Playing libero for the second night in a row was
Schalicia Degase (Truth or Consequences, NM, Hot Springs High School). She finished with 17 digs to lead the Mustangs.
For the Orediggers, Jackie Stabell led all hitters with 18 kills. Defensively, Elizabeth Serra-Hsu and Hannah Margheim notched 19 digs. Amanda Massey showed why she is one of the top setters in the conference after her 55-assist performance.
WNMU is now 8-9 overall and 6-6 in conference play. CSM improves to 16-overall and 9-3 in the RMAC.
