After getting off to tough start in doubles matches, the men's tennis team never built up enough momentum to earn a victory over CSU – Pueblo Saturday morning. The ThunderWolves defeated the Mustangs, 5-4.
The Mustangs gained relatively easy wins at the No. 4, 5, and 6 singles spot but saw tough competition in the top three slots.
Valu Fa (Suva, Fiji, Natabua High School, New Mexico Military Institute),
Luke Salazar (Albuquerque, NM, Valley High School), and
Emmanuel Hecher (Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Colegio Pitagoras) all earned victories in straight sets.
“We will be ready for CSU – Pueblo in the RMAC tournament,” says head coach Erik Burton. “We will be ready in a week's time. We will regain our strength and confidence. You can't push your way to an RMAC championship. You have to earn it.”
