Cold Day Doesn't Cool Mustangs

Sophomore Luke Salazar
Despite a cold day, the Mustangs were still able to plow over their competition, Colorado Christian University, 9-0. WNMU took advantage of a changed CCU line-up and capitalized.

Flavio Rueda (Mazatlan, Mexico, Universidad Autonoma de Durango, Riverside Community College) had a successful win at No. 1, defeating Walder, 7-6, 6-3. Wilton Atkins (Wanganui, New Zealand, Wanganui Collegiate School, University of North Alabama), Valu Fa (Suva, Fiji, Natabua High School, New Mexico Military Institute), Emmanuel Hecher (Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Colegio Pitagoras), and Luke Salazar (Albuquerque, NM, Valley High School) cruised past their competition and did not give up more than two games in each of their matches.

“Tomorrow's match with CSU-Pueblo will be a good strong test for the men,” says head coach Erik Burton. “We need these kind of matches that push our team harder and stronger.”

The Mustangs beat CSU-Pueblo earlier this month in Pueblo, Colorado, 5-4.
