Mark Bunker awarded DII Coach of the Week Honors

Boston, MA. – Mark Bunker, head coach of the Western New Mexico University Men's Basketball program, has been named the HoopDirt.com NCAA Division II Coach of the Week for Week 14 after guiding the Mustangs through a historic stretch in what is already the best season in school history.

Bunker's leadership has propelled the Mustangs to unprecedented success, highlighted by a dominant run through conference play and a national presence that continues to grow each week. Under his direction, WNMU has set new program benchmarks in overall wins (21) and conference wins (14), firmly establishing this year's squad as one of the elite teams in Division II basketball.

In Week 14, the Mustangs had dominant performances in victories' over #14 St. Edwards (88-77) and St. Mary's (85-76) to pick up wins No. 20 and 21 on the campaign, setting a D2-era program record. The Mustangs were also recognized in the NABC Coaches Poll for the fourth straight week, receiving a season-high 26 votes; highlighting their continued success and national recognition.

As postseason play approaches, Bunker and the Mustangs remain focused on the bigger goals ahead. This latest national recognition is a testament to the hard work of the entire program and a milestone moment in one of the most memorable seasons in WNMU Men's Basketball history.
