Richardson, TX - With just one week remaining in the Lone Star Conference men's basketball regular season, Western New Mexico Junior
Andre Harris (Mesa, AZ/Hillcrest Prep) was awarded his third LSC Player of the Week honors and second Defensive player of the week this season.
Harris pulled down 14 defensive rebounds and blocked three shots to lead wins over No. 14 St. Edward's and St. Mary's. Harris, who wins the league's top weekly defensive award for the second time this season, helped the Mustangs increase their winning streak to five games. On the week, he averaged 12 points on 67 percent shooting, 9.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists. In an 88-77 win over SEU, Harris had the game's only double double (12 points and 11 rebounds) and narrowly missed a triple double with eight assists. Harris blocked two shots against St. Mary's to give him 38 for the season, which ranks fourth in the league.
The Mustangs are LSC Tournament Bound for the first time after achieving their 21st win of the season against St. Mary's University. The LSC men's basketball tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for March 5, 7-8 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
