Box Score SILVER CITY, NM — Western NM defeated DBU 3-1 (25-20, 25-15, 22-25, 25-18) Thursday at Drag's Court. Western NM hit .301 with 49 kills and 14 total blocks while holding DBU to a .126 hitting percentage.
Western NM erased an 11-6 deficit with a 6-0 run, as
Hannah Haggard (Tucson, AZ/Tanque Verde High School) served through points that included kills by Hailey Meeks and Isabella Brewer before Haggard's ace gave Western NM a 12-11 lead. After DBU moved back in front at 13-12, Western NM answered with kills from
Daphne Posthumus (Lelystad, Netherlands/CCNV Harderwijk (Netherlands)) and Meeks to go up 15-13. Western NM closed the set on a Meeks kill for a 25-20 win.
A 6-6 tie gave way to five straight Western NM points, a stretch that included a
Jade Rampton (Nelson, New Zealand/Shanghai American School) kill, a Haggard service ace and a Posthumus block. The home side added four straight points on
Briseis Armendariz's (El Paso, TX/Del Valle HS) serve to move ahead 16-8, with Armendariz serving an ace and Posthumus adding another block. Western NM finished the set at 25-15 after late points that included a
Jayden Hughes (High Rolls, NM/Cloudcroft High School) kill and a Brynlee Barris kill.
Facing a 7-5 deficit, Western NM answered with seven straight points on Haggard's serve, moving in front 12-7 with four Posthumus block points, kills from Meeks and
McKenna Alvarez-Mittelsted (Katy, TX/Cinco Ranch HS), and a Haggard ace. DBU came back late, tied the set at 21-21 and, after Alvarez-Mittelsted's kill made it 22-22, scored the final three points to take the set 25-22.
Western NM took control of the fourth set after an 11-11 tie, winning seven of the next eight rallies to move ahead 18-12. Posthumus had back-to-back kills during Haggard's service turn, which produced four straight Western NM points.
Savanna Haefs (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista High School) later served an ace and assisted kills by Hughes and Rampton, with Rampton's final kill closing a 25-18 set win.
Dallas Baptist entered the season receiving three votes in the 2026 AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Preseason Poll. The Mustangs snapped a six-match losing streak against Dallas Baptist University, earning their first win over DBU since 2019.

Geno Frugoli said, "Great team win tonight. Brynlee Barris was outstanding along with our defense and blocking. The whole team was locked in and believed. Very excited to see where we go from here."
Western NM is 10-7 overall and 4-2 in Lone Star play.
Posthumus finished with nine kills on .563 hitting, nine blocks and 18 points. Barris led Western NM with 10 kills and added four blocks. Haggard recorded 21 assists and four service aces.
Mikelle McAfee (Casa Grande, AZ/Casa Grande Union High School.) collected a team-high 11 digs and added two aces.
