SAN ANTONIO, TX – On Friday, The Western New Mexico women's tennis team competed in the Kimbell Memorial Invitational, hosted by St. Mary's University.
In singles, Nikoleta Pytel put together a clean 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Eva Guta (Bucharest, Romania) played a singles match where she would fall 4-6, 2-6. Lucia Carmena (Alcala de Henares, Spain/Cet Alcala), had a tough draw, before falling 1-6, 3-6.
Pytel and Carmena had a strong showing, but would fall 2-6 in their first match, but later bounced back with a second doubles match, winning 6-3.
Josephina Bailetti and Guta played doubles but fell at 1-6 in their first match, and were defeated again 3-6.
The Kimbell Memorial Invitational will continue through the weekend, continuing on Saturday and ending on Sunday
