Mustangs Run Into Buzz Saw Buffaloes in Canyon

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Canyon, T.X. – The Mustangs continue their 2025 season on the road, traveling to West Texas A&M to square off with the Buffs in Canyon, Texas! Game 1 was a tough loss, with the Mustangs making an effort that came too late to save them. The Buffs would win in the fifth, 11-2. In Game 2, the Mustangs kept things a little tighter defensively, holding the Buffaloes to only 5 runs, but unfortunately could not bring in any runs themselves. West Texas A&M wins game 2, 5-0.

Game One: Western New Mexico vs. West Texas A&M 2-11
Starting on the mound for the Western, Labraida Tenorio threw 66 pitches, faced 22 batters, and pitched one strikeout. Madison Kloepper (Llano, TX/Llano High School) would relieve her, throwing 12 pitches, facing 3 batters, and also finishing with one strikeout.
Offensively, WNMU had a total of 18 at-bats. The Mustangs would walk away with only 3 hits after game 1. One of those hits did happen to be a 2-run home-run by Jenna Peters (Lake Elsinore, CA/Temescal Canyon High School), but was unfortunately not enough to swing things in favor of the Mustangs.

Starting on the mound for the Mustangs in game two, Haiven Schoolcraft (Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad High School) pitched the entire game, throwing 91 pitches, facing 28 batters and finishing off the day with one strikeout.

Offensively, WNMU had a total of 22 at-bats. The Mustangs struggled more so, at the plate, in this game than game one. The Mustangs could only manage 1 hit under the heat of Buffs' pitcher, Emilee Boyer.
