Silver City, New Mexico – The Western New Mexico University Women's Tennis team kicked off their 2025 Spring Season with a dominant 7-0 victory over Sul Ross State in their first home match.

In doubles play, the No. 1 pairing of Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) and Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) defeated Priscilla Delgado and Malia Williams-Sala, 6-0. At No. 2, Ana Sofia Montero-Villegas and Manon Baudet (Lyon, France/TC Trevoux) triumphed over Bre Quarles and Lily Wiser, 6-0. The No. 3 duo of Jenna Kastell (Bonn, Germany/TC Rot-Weiß Troisdorf) and Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh High School) won by default as the third pairing from Sul Ross was unavailable.
In singles, Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) dominated at No. 1, defeating Priscilla Delgado in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School), at No. 2, followed suit with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Malia Williams-Sala. Ana Sofia Montero-Villegas, playing No. 3, breezed past Eliana Mata with a 6-0, 6-0 scoreline. Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh High School), positioned at No. 4, also claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Bre Quarles. At No. 5, Jenna Kastell (Bonn, Germany/TC Rot-Weiß Troisdorf) completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lily Wiser. In the final spot at No. 6, Manon Baudet (Lyon, France/TC Trevoux) won by default as Sul Ross did not field a player at that position.

The Mustangs will travel to Dallas, Texas, to face Southern Arkansas in a match scheduled for Friday, March 7, 2025, at 1 p.m. MT.
