Silver City, N.M. - Western New Mexico University's men's basketball took the court for the last time of the 2024-2025 season, tipping off against the Sul Ross State Lobos. Western took an early lead on the Lobos and held a firm grip! The Mustangs fought hard and were rewarded with an 82-68 victory.
    The Mustangs were led offensively by
James McCallum (Long Beach, CA./St. Bernard's High School) with 20 points (6-10) and
Aiden Wall (North Richland Hills, TX/Keller Central High School) with 14 points (5-12). On the defensive side,
James McCallum (Long Beach, CA./St. Bernard's High School) led in rebounds with 13.
    In the first half, the Mustangs were averaging 38.2%(13-34) from the field and 46.7%(7-15) beyond the arc. The Lobos averaged 36.1%13-36) from the field and 22.2%(2-9) from 3-point range. In the second half, Western averaged 43.8%(14-32) from the field and 33.3%(4-12) from 3-point range. On the opposing side, Sul Ross finished the second half shooting 50%(15-30) from the field and 25%(1-4) from beyond the arc. The Mustangs averaged 81%(17-21) from the free-throw line, while on the opposition's side, the Lobos averaged 64.3%(9-14). The final score, WNMU 82, SRSU 68.
