Las Cruces, NM - The first day of the Aggie Invite at New Mexico State concluded with some hard-fought battles.

Xaviera Melgar (Tacna, Peru/Alexander Von Humboldt School) showed a strong fight, claiming victory in singles matches, 6-4, 6-2.

Josefina Bailetti (Pergamino, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Nuestra Señora del Huerto) fought hard but fell in singles, 1-6, 3-6. Lucia Carmena (Alcala de Henares, Spain/Les Complutense Alcala de Henares) showed strong resilience but fell, 0-6, 2-6. Eva Guta (Bucharest, Romania/Liceul Teoretic C.A. Rosetti (Romania)) also matched up and fell, 1-6, 2-6. 

The Mustangs continued their fight in the doubles matchup, where Guta and Melgar teamed up, but fell, 7-5, 1-6. The team-up of Bailetti and Carmena also fell 6-1.

The Mustangs will continue their Invitational tomorrow!
