WNMU Mustangs Gets Toppled by the MSU Mustangs

Wichita Falls, Texas - The Western New Mexico Mustangs Women's Basketball team carries on their 2024-2025 season in a match against the Midwestern State University Mustangs at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls, Texas. The WNMU Mustangs would put out much effort and put up a fight until the end, but ultimately, they fell to the MSU Mustangs 44-82. The WNMU Mustangs would drop to the MSU Mustangs in their shooting era, averaging 23.7% (14-59), while the MSU Mustangs were 45.3% (29-64). The MSU Mustangs averaged better than the WNMU Mustangs in three-pointers, averaging 21.2% (4-19) versus 0% (0-10) for the WNMU Mustangs. The WNMU Mustangs battled hard with the MSU Mustangs in free throws, with an average of 66.7% (16-24), but the MSU Mustangs still came out on top with an average of 80.0% (20-25).
 
Alina Martin would lead the WNMU Mustangs with a total of 18 points. Natalie Magallnes and Jaleyn Morrison would average 100% in free throws for the WNMU Mustangs. Natalie Magallnes played a defensive game, recording seven rebounds for the WNMU Mustangs. Eliza Joynes (Adelaide, South Australia/Henley Sports Academy) would record three blocks for the WNMU Mustangs.
 
The MSU Mustangs make the most of Western New Mexico's 24 turnovers, generating 30 points off those missteps and establishing a strong early lead. Western New Mexico fought hard with nine second-chance points.
