SILVER CITY, N.M. – The WNMU Football Team hosted LSC rival Angelo State on Saturday night for their first home conference game of the year. Both teams' defenses kept each other in check for most of the game, but Angelo State managed to score once in the second, third, and fourth quarters, defeating the Mustangs 21-0.

Josh Magana (Dinuba, CA/Dinuba High School) completed 12 of 28 passes for 90 yards with one interception and was sacked twice.
Davey Morales (Queen Creek, AZ/Queen Creek High School) shined for the second consecutive game, leading the Mustangs' receiving corps with seven catches for 82 yards.

"I'm super proud of the way our guys fought. I asked them to fight for the entire game, and they did that," said Head Coach
Billy Hickman. "However, we were a team that lacked detail and discipline tonight, and this was a game we could have won. To quote the great Denny Green, 'We had them, and we let them off the hook.'"
The Mustangs will hit the road for a long trip west to face Central Washington on Saturday, September 28, 2024, in Ellensburg, Washington. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT.
